Speyside Woodland Walks
Our Woodland Walk Location
We are based here on the Moray Estate at Darnaway, close to Forres, where we are ideally situated for anyone wishing to join us for an enchanted woodland walk in the ancient Darnaway Forest. From our base here at Bradbush, situated close to Darnaway Castle, we can take you on spectacular woodland walks through and around the ancient Darnaway Forest.
River Findhorn Woodland Experience
Our woodland walks take you along the banks of the stunning River Findhorn, where this well known salmon river winds through a stunning granite gorge over some twenty miles in length.
Forest Composition & Tree Species
Most of the woodlands are coniferous, being mainly Scots Pine, Sitka Spruce and Douglas Firs. A very large part of the Darnaway Forest is also made up of Oak and Beech, which has been managed for over two hundred and fifty years.
Ancient Darnaway Forest Heritage
Part of Darnaway has been a forest for over a thousand years, being formerly a royal hunting forest. The oldest tree in the forest, an Oak is estimated to be around seven hundred and fifty years old!
