Reflections on a Bountiful Season: Preparing for the Final Casts and Looking Ahead to 2025
In mid-August, river levels and conditions remained reasonably good for my guests on the River Findhorn at Altyre Estate. The runs of fresh fish just kept on coming! It was a joy to see so many anglers experiencing the thrill of the catch and the serene beauty of the river. Watching the delight on their faces as they landed a salmon, feeling the tug of the line and the rush of the water, was magical.
As we enter early Autumn and the last month of our season, it seems incredible that there are only four weeks left before our season closes here on the River Findhorn in North East Scotland. The vibrant hues of autumn leaves reflecting on the water are a sight to behold, making this time of year particularly special for seasoned anglers and newcomers alike. The crisp mornings and the mellow light of the setting sun create an atmosphere that is both peaceful and refreshing, perfect conditions for a day spent casting lines and enjoying the natural splendor.
We have been fortunate this year with a steady run of fresh fish, and the camaraderie among our guests has been truly heartwarming. Stories of battles with the elusive salmon, shared tips and techniques, and even the occasional friendly competition has made this season productive and immensely enjoyable. Our shared passion for fishing has fostered a fantastic community spirit, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We are now taking inquiries and bookings for the 2025 season. If you want to secure your spot on either Altyre Estate, the Meads of St. John at Darnaway, or the Upper Home Beat at Darnaway, River Findhorn, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
We anticipate another fantastic season ahead, with plenty of opportunities to catch that prize fish and enjoy the serene beauty of our beloved river. The anticipation of planning a fishing trip often brings as much joy as the trip itself, and I would be delighted to assist you in every aspect of your adventure.
Thank you to all who have made this season memorable. Your enthusiasm and love for the sport have been truly infectious. As we look forward to another exciting season in 2025, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the joys of the past months and to start dreaming about the adventures yet to come.
Tight lines, and see you on the river!
